Chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI)

Direct-MS recently contributed $125,000 USD to the CCSVI research project currently being done at The University of Buffalo under the direction of Dr Robert Zivadinov and Dr Bianca Weinstock-Guttman. Direct-MS sees this study as a critical research project because it will establish beyond a reasonable doubt whether or not CCSVI is associated with MS. Such an association must be firmly established before a large clinical trial which will test the efficacy of relief of CCSVI by endovascular procedures will be done. Routine treatment of CCSVI will become available only after such a clinical trial is done. Thus the Buffalo study is the first major step in seeing that treatment of CCSVI eventually becomes widely available. The sooner it gets done, the sooner treatment will happen.
